Own Wonder Woman’s Kia Sportage!
Introducing the all-new Wonder Woman-themed Kia Sportage
SUV, the latest installment from the automaker who is car-ifying the ‘Justice
League of America’ one superhero at a time.
This Sportage modification is the latest in a 10-month,
eight car partnership between Kia and DC Comics, who has created some of the
most iconic super heroes that make up the Justice League, including Batman,
Green Lantern and Superman (the eighth and final vehicle will amalgamate all
seven JLA members). “As one of the most well-known Super Heroes in the world,
Wonder Woman portrays an impressive balance of power, agility and confidence,
all of which are inherent characteristics of the Kia Sportage crossover,” said
Michael Sprague, executive vice president, marketing & communications, KMA.
Built upon the 2013 Sportage SUV, this Kia has been
customized from tip to tail. The colour scheme mimics Wonder Woman’s iconic
red, white and blue outfit, complete with gold star accents and five-spoke
star-like wheels. A gold trim wraps around the vehicle, representing the
heroine’s “Lasso of Truth.” Her eagle chest-plate is integrated into the grille
and flanked by blue headlight beams, and her tiara is plastered across the top
of the windshield. An aero kit was added to the car, heightening the aura of
streamlined-but-powerful. The colour scheme continues into the cabin with a
bright red upholstery and dash with black accents. Blue LED lighting was
incorporated around the interior, and the custom seats have been emblazoned
with the famous double-W-logo. A Wonder Woman costume would not be complete
without her signature tiara, bracelets and glowing Lasso of Truth, so Kia has
entombed a set right into the cargo area underneath a see-through panel.
Here’s the best part of the car – the driving force behind
this customization is charity.
Kia is continuing last year’s partnership with DC
Entertainment’s We Can Be Heroes giving campaign, an initiative committed to
raising both the awareness and funds needed to fight the hunger crisis in the
Horn of Africa. Specifically, the money raised will benefit the three
humanitarian aid organizations currently working in Africa: Save the Children,
International Rescue Committee and Mercy Corps. The funds will help the over 5
million people in Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia living in drought and famine.

Kia Concept Car Can Monitor A Driver's Health
Revealed at the 2013 Seoul Motor Show, Kia’s CUB Concept is
a five door compact vehicle aimed at ‘trend-setting urban dwellers’. President
and Chief Design Officer, Peter Schreyer worked with the design staff at the
Seoul studio on the project that is kind of styling mashup of their current Rio
and GT Concept.
The sporty character of the car is emphasized through the
use of long, low shapes. Kia’s signature ‘tiger nose’ grille has been squished
to nearly a slot on the front end. The lower front and rear fascia have a
matching thin to thick graphic treatment accentuating the vehicle’s width. The
lower bodyside incorporates aerodynamic panels similar to the barge boards
found on Formula One race cars that help smooth airflow around the vehicle.
The interior is driver focused and controls and fussy
details are kept to a minimum. The instrument panel is made up of two large
gauges Kia says were ‘inspired by the eyes of a wild animal.’
An interesting technology feature is a sensor strip
integrated into the steering wheel which monitors the drivers biorhythms. Kia
doesn’t go into any further details about what this might do, but consider if
the car could adjust settings to provide a more comfortable ride/interior
environment if the drivers heart rate were elevated due to stress.
Kia says there are no plans for production of the CUB but we
wouldn’t rule out the next generation Rio incorporating some of these styling
elements.
